The institution is situated at the Palampur Bajnath via Panchrukhi Road ,about 10 K.m. from palampur to Saliana village lying first close to the snow covered hills of Dhauladhar Mountains of Kangra Distt.G.A.V sr.sec. school enjoys the reputation of the oldest centre of learning in the area. It was established a way Back in April 1923 by the untiring and unfailing efforts of a revered social thinker Pt.Chaturbhuj who is the form of a pioneer worked whole heartily for the making up of the institution Primarily the institution came into existence as a middle school under an able headmaster Sh. Tula Ram Sharma Since this institution has been a single of its kind it has also been a center of grate attraction for the students as students from far flung areas of the distt. thronged here for studying purposes .by the time Sh.Tula Ram compiled his service tenure, a new headmaster Sh. Kishori Lal occupied the main chair in May 1935 and kept the momentum going until 1949.

Later on in April 1951 it was upgraded to a high school and witnessed another towering personality Sh. Kulbhushan in the form of a new Headmaster. He remained in the chair for next 39 years together and sacrificed his whole life to the service and betterment of the institution and there by the society. The school had risen to its glory and could boast of its matchless Excellency after that the institution advance a step further and was upgraded to the sr.sec.school in July 1991.This time the chair was taken over by another talented Principal Kanwar Tara Chand Ji.It is very well acknowledged that the students who had schooling here have reason to extra ordinary and marvelous heights in their lives.This institution has been a great center of learning and has produced doctors,ingineers,teachers,civil officers,army officers ,leaders and what not.Even our former agriculture minister Late Sh.Sant Ram had also been the students of this institution.No doubt our institution is still enjoying the age old reputation in the Distt.,people residing in the surrounding areas have a special love,devotion and feeling towards it. At present the institution is functioning under the survelliance of another talented educated and prominent Principal Sh.S.K.Sharma who has taken over since Feb.2013.As already mentioned in the brief history of the school this institution is serving the down trodden people of the area since 1923.We are giving fee concessions to the students of economically backward class irrespective to any caste, colour and creed. We are giving full fee concession to the students of Bal Ashram also. Approximately a sum of rupees 15 thousand is disbursed to the talented students of the school in the shape of scholarship This scholarship is given by the generous dignitaries of the area to boost up the students.
